Premiership winner and loser summer 2011

Arsenal
It’s difficult to compare the teams in the premiership when one is using winner and loser. The gap between the top 6 teams and the rest of the league is huge and there for not worth mentioning. That being said I would rate Arsenal as the loser when the window closed.  Arsene Wenger did a lot of good work signing Mikel Arteta (Everton), Per Mertesacker (Werder Bremen), Yossi Benayoun (Chelsea, loan), Andre Santos (Fenerbahce), and Park Cho Young (Monaco) before the window closed. But in my opinion I can’t see Gunners being able to replace the creativity from former captain Fabregas and French international star Nasri. Even though I rate Arsenal as the losers in this transfer window I want to give a shout out to all the Wenger haters out there. Arsene Wenger is a world class manager, and The Gunners won’t find any better out there, so stop the wining and back your team instead.

Manchester City
The winner of this transfer is in my opinion Manchester City without of doubt.  Gael Clichy (Arsenal), Stefan Savic (Partizan Belgrade), Sergio Aguero (Atletico Madrid), Samir Nasri (Arsenal) and Owen Hargreaves (free). Clichy has already proved himself as one of the best backs in the premiership, while Savic is one of the most talented defenders in the world. Aguero have showed the fans what he can do from day one, and Nasri is in my opinion one of the best players in the world when you look at flair and creativity. The signing of Hargreaves on the final day on the window is a strange signing, but if the Canadian born Englishman can get back in shape he is a quality player.

Queens Park Rangers
When looking outside of the top teams I feel QPR did a lot of good signings. Jay Bothroyd (Cardiff, free), Kieron Dyer (West Ham, free), DJ Campbell (Blackpool), Danny Gabbidon (West Ham, free), Joey Barton (Newcastle, free), Brian Murphy (Ipswich, free), Luke Young (Aston Villa), Bruno Perone (free), Armand Traore (Arsenal), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City) and Anton Ferdinand (Sunderland). Warnock have signed players with premiership experience and I think they have done enough this summer to make sure that the club stays up this season.

Norwich City
Norwich is the team that sticks out for me in a negative way when looking at their transfers. James Vaughan (Everton), Steve Morison (Millwall), Eliot Bennett (Brighton), Ritchie de Laet (Manchester United), Anthony Pilkington (Huddersfield), Bradley Johnson (Leeds, free), Kyle Naughton (Tottenham, loan) and Daniel Ayala (Liverpool). It is very little premiership experience in the signings and players like James Vaughan and Ritchie de Laet don’t look strong enough even though they have experience from this level. I can’t see Norwich stay up this season even though I fancy the Canaries as a club.
